Our vision

The history of societies is intimately linked to technological progress. The improvement of human living conditions owes much to scientific and technological innovations, particularly in medicine, industry, information technologies, energy, transport, chemistry, and so on. Some breakthroughs have nonetheless contributed to the degradation of our environment, with irreversible consequences for the climate and biodiversity.

In recent years, investment in scientific research has increased sharply, with a strong focus on consumer technologies. While trade competition between major powers does not take environmental and societal challenges into account, geopolitical tensions are triggering arms races, guiding research investments toward the military sector.

When dedicated to more virtuous interests, Scientific research, can sometimes be very poorly organized. For example, European countries have invested billions in research, set up bureaucratic mechanisms, at local, national, and European levels, that multiply the stakeholders, leading to more complex procedures. This leads to a great loss of resources and generates abuses such as a race to publish and sometimes a loss of motivation by actors of scientific research.

In this context, our ambition is to encourage the emergence of a collective reflection at the global level, within the scientific community and beyond. We want to create the conditions for a better coordination of the whole research ecosystem, by influencing political decisions, the prioritization of issues at stake, budget determination for strategic programs and the acquisition of key equipments.
